It was January 26,1950, a day chosen because of historical connect, a wave of pride swept
through the nation as Dr. Rajendra Prasad unfurled the tricolour at Rashtrapati bhavan, marking
the birth of Indian Republic. This moment was not just a dream but culmination of efforts of
all the freedom fighters whom we know and importantly whom we do not.
India's great past
India's history has always been diverse and deep rooted. Be it science, religion, culture,
infrastructure, republican nature and so on. The indus valley civilisation portrays the rich urban
planning, nature worship, separate language and immense trade. Scholars like Chanakya,
Aryabhatt, shaped global knowledge, the Nalanda university, Takshshila, Vallabhi, The
republican nature can be traced not just from 1950 but it can be seen even in mahajanpads like
vijji, malla, etc.
However, as the colonial era began, era of exploitation started and britishers drained India in
terms of its economy, society, political arrangement, scientific temper, education, culture,
language and so on. But this was the time when brave Indian likes Shivaji, Nana Sahib, Rani
Lakshmi Bai, Rani Avantibai, etc fought against them. During this time, the seeds for unity was
started sowing and 1857 revolt considered as first war of independence reflected (VD Savarkar).
With lot of struggle by our freedom fighters including mahatma Gandhi, sardar patel,
Jawaharlal Nehru, BR Ambedkar, India got independent on 15 august, 1947 and Constitution
of India came into force on 26 november, 1949 with a preamble stating republic as one of the
nature of out constitution.
India a growing nation
With India near to celebrating its 76th republic say, it stands as a symbol of its people in the
world. India presently has grown to be 6th largest economy in the world and its culture
celebrated worldwide. India have maximum number of diaspora ( nearly 35 million) living in
different parts of the world and still connected to their roots.
In terms of scientific development, missions like chandrayaan 3, Aditya L1, Mangalyaan shows
india's urge of explorations and India also possess one of the largest IT hubs in the world.
In terms of International standing, India's position as a global power is increasing. From
heading the Non aligned movement to presently having significant relations with the USA,
Russia, African nations, and so on shows India's diplomacy and it's ability to keep nation's
interest at top.
With so much development, comes the point of all round development and for that inclusivity
India have always been following an inclusive approach with progressive taxation, reservations
schemes, upliftment schemes for vulnerable like beti bachao beti padao, PM vishwakarma
scheme, National livelihood mission, Food security, etc.
India - a future leader
As we look forward, India's future lies in the hand of youth. With the largest demographic
dividend with around 68 % of population between the age of 15 and 64 shows a great potential
that India needs to utilise at the fullest. India have been a futuristic and thoughtful nation with
taking responsibilities like India's target of achieving net zero by 2070, 50% energy generation
by renewable energy, etc shows India's commitment. Further India's vision should include the
development of manufacturing sector, preservation and portraying of its rich culture,
technology advancement, digital and AI incorporation, etc.
Conclusion
As PM modi says, India is not merely a geography. It is a living soul. It is the dream of 1.4
billion aspiration" and these aspiration and people will further make the India great.
