Currently working as Superintendent Jail with Jammu and Kashmir Prisons Department from last more than 12 years. The role and responsibility include administration and management of a prison as its head. During the 12-year career in prisons I have successfully managed many prisons in troubled Jammu and Kashmir, besides dealt with many challenging situations. My focus has been young offenders and their reformation with special focus on their education.
Prior to working in prisons, I have also worked in the field of Child Rights Protection for 6 months with National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, India, and in the field of Mental Health Counselling and awareness with organizations Médecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and Action aid in Kashmir, India. I possess a bachelor's in science(B.sc) and master's in social work (MSW) from Kashmir University. I was also a Fulbright-Hubert H Humphrey Fellow 202-21 at University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs, USA.
